The walls on the last level of Le 8 Duplessis project are now completely installed. As with most buildings of more than 3 stories, this project includes shear walls, both inside and outside, made to resist lateral forces applied to the building such as the wind or seismic loads. Sufficient lateral stability is achieved by the way the sheathing board is attached to the wall (OSB or plywood) and by the use of joist hangers.
Thanks to the outstanding collaboration between L2C engineers and ours, a total of 1,600 linear feet of shear wall have been installed, including 32 continuous rod tiedown systems.
